Born in Hiroshima, he was influenced by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada. After graduating from high school, he spent approximately eight years training at Sakuma Totaro Kiln in Mashiko before establishing his own studio.
Rooted in the philosophy of the Mingei folk craft movement and guided by a focus on functionality and ease of use, he has gained recognition for his distinctive style, characterized by multiple layers of glaze.
Now based in Hiroshima, he works both in Japan and internationally, holding solo exhibitions and participating in various projects. Upcoming plans include an artist residency in Mexico City, an exhibition in Seoul, and solo exhibitions in California and Shanghai, as well as presentations at galleries and shops throughout Japan.
