Shun Yoshino
Born in Hiroshima, Shun Yoshino was influenced by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada. After graduating from high school, he trained for approximately eight years at Sakuma Totaro Kiln in Mashiko before becoming independent.
Grounded in the philosophy of the Mingei movement, he creates functional and easy-to-use pottery while attracting attention for his distinctive expression created through the layering of multiple glazes. Now based in Hiroshima, he is active both in Japan and internationally, holding solo exhibitions and taking part in various projects.
His upcoming plans include an artist residency in Mexico City, an exhibition in Seoul, and solo exhibitions in California and Shanghai. He also has forthcoming exhibitions and presentations at galleries and shops throughout Japan.
