Kitaichi Glass visit and Hakodate Marathon

小樽・北一硝子様訪問と函館マラソン

(The following is translation of the email which was sent to Japanese customers.)

I'm Y from You You Ang.

How are you doing?

When Gunma was extremely hot last week, I went to the Hakodate Marathon! It was postponed for 3 years due to corona. I'm not sure whether I entered because I was practicing more 3 years ago (laugh). But I was able to make an opportunity to meet customers in Hokkaido.

The race is billed as "Japan's most painful fun run," so there were a fair number of ups and downs. Hakodate is famous for its hills, and it was a sweltering 30 degrees Celsius, not cool at all! I drank water at the first aid station and sprinkled water on myself every time from the next aid station. From around 30km, I started to suffer from heat stroke and meandered my way but managed to pass through the checkpoints.

This race is also famous for the refreshment at each aid station, and ramen, melon and watermelon are usually served every year, but this year only water to prevent corona. At the last aid station, I couldn't think of anything anymore and just started running with only water on my face, but out of the corner of my eye, I found the only sweets in this race! I was hungry, so I ran back about 100m and snapped. It’s delicious. I was thirsty, so I drank water and started running again. This was a bad idea. The checkpoint 2km before the goal was closed right in front of me. Yes, this was the end. Later I checked carefully and realized that the time limit of checkpoints of this race was short. If I had run seriously, I could have finished the race. I regretted my lack of practice, the unexpected heat, and the only supply water.

By the way, the next day, I changed my mind and went to Otaru to visit Kitaichi Glass, a customer who has been with us for 20 years.

On the main street of Otaru, there are many shops of Kitaichi Glass according to the theme. The Otaru faceted glass series for which everything from handmade molds to facet processing is done in Otaru (in the No. 3 building), the rustic country series (in the No. 3 building), and works with a delicate transparency peculiar to crystals (in the Crystal Hall). There is also a museum, and I was fascinated by the beautiful glass works.

You You Ang's original glass bottle incense is sold here. Set with incense plate made by Kitaichi Glass, these glass bottles look cuter and primmer than usual. The cool glass plates will make you feel cool. Please drop in when you visit Otaru.

It's a hot day every day. Please take care of your health.
